I have no idea if its borongoru which sounds like the one I really need. I’m wondering if this just placed order can be changed if it isn’t a heavy kava. I need the best one for sleep.

Thanks Marcia

I’m assuming I’ll be kneading it into a tea in the hot water when it arrives after seeping it?

Some forums are saying this strain is middle of the road, but I need help falling asleep, not euphoria.

Hi Lee,
Instant kava is a great option for on the go or traveling. It’s easier to prepare and most times just as effective as kneading the whole root in water. Evening or more sedating varieties include Borongoru, Vula Waka and Melomelo which are all good for occasional sleeplessness.

I am thinking about ease of use, especially for travel. I’ve had kava in local bars and I just made my first batch at home.

Hi Suzi,
Apologies for the confusion and thanks for pointing that out! It was a typo – yes, Borongoru and Vula are our heavy kava varieties and best for evening use. Thank you!

In the article above, it is stated that Borongoru and Vulu Wala are heady kavas […Borongoru is a heady kava and best for evening consumption. Our other heady, nighttime kava is Vulu Waka, from Fiji…]. However, elsewhere on this site, they are also described as heavy. I am looking for muscle relaxation and a good night’s sleep, and do not desire as much of a heady feel. Can you help me choose? Thank you.

Typically, Boroguru, Borongoru, and Melomelo varieties are best for sleep. When looking at the Chemotype of a kava, you would look for low quantities of Yangonin (#3) and higher quantities of DHK(#2) and to some extent DHM (#5).
